I sure hope that you’re reading this after having seen this incredible house in person! If not, there’s still tomorrow – Sunday – from 11-4! We had a huge turn out of people today for the NARI Remodeled Homes Tour. They all went crazy over these homeowners’ impeccable taste and classic style.
And of course the cameras were a’ clickin! But, out of respect for the homeowners, we asked that people pocket their cameras and come to our website and snatch the professional pics instead! So here’s the promised virtual tour.
But first, a brief little background on the house. This lovely family has lived here for 23 years and has graciously invited Scovell Wolfe to do 6 or so remodels during those two decades! From an attic conversion back in 1999 to a screened in porch addition in 2007, a basement finish in 2010 and most recently a first floor overhaul including a kitchen this past year, the house is stunning from top to bottom! Toss in a few more minor remodels, some room upgrades and bathroom makeovers, etc and you can’t really ask for a better house to put on tour!
So let’s get on with it!
Here was the basement way back when…
And now…
The other side of the basement:
It’s now a sports lover’s dream. I love how tasteful this is done.
Moving upstairs to the first floor, we have the original owner pictured in the photograph below standing in what was once the living room!
And now a totally modernized, yet classic living space! Hard to tell in the picture, but we bumped the wall on the right a few feet to enlarge the space.
This living space now flows into the the kitchen. And what was once a solid wall covered in wood paneling, is now open to the kitchen.
Hard to even comprehend the before and after. But nonetheless…
And now for the show-stopping kitchen. But first, the original.
PHE-NOM-E-NAL!!
Standing in the kitchen you have three equally amazing directions you could go. You could walk out onto the screened-in porch. Head back toward the custom pantry and mudroom. Or scoot into the dining room – complete with gorgeous wet bar. We’ll start with the pantry which transitions into the mudroom.
Tucked away in this wing is also a sweet little powder bath.
I spy the most perfect little built-in dog kennel. Do you?
I also spy the most perfect little mudroom cubbies directly across from the garage door. Can anyone say convenient??
Backing up a few steps to the kitchen, you could have chosen to instead walk beyond the island, past the breakfast room table, through the sliding doors…
into this magnificent three seasons screened in porch complete with stone fireplace!
OR!!! Yes, another option from the kitchen! You could have turned around and headed straight for this stately dining room flanked with a stunning wet bar.
Oh, the many options one has in this house!!
Beyond all of these recently remodeled spaces is a charming little reading room by the front door.
And now, let’s hop on up to the second floor. Once nothing more than an attic, the second floor now boasts two bedrooms – including the master – a beautiful en suite, a laundry room, office space, and family room! Pretty impressive given it used to be unfinished storage!
Just this evening I was speaking with the homeowner and they mentioned that their very favorite piece in the entire house is this master bedroom entertainment center. Not hard to see why!
Ok and now for a major throwback. Remember when I said that we began remodeling for this family back in 1999? Well, here’s a photograph of way back when we first converted the attic into a family room and office space! I can’t seem to find a more up to date shot, so this will have to do! Picture newer furniture and an enclosed laundry room taking the place of the far left desk bay.
Well that about does it for this fantastic house! If you’ve made it through this picture-packed post, you definitely ought to swing by this Sunday the 26th (TOMORROW!!) and see it all in person during the NARI Remodeled Homes Tour!
We can’t thank this family enough for letting us take over their home for 48 hours and show off some of our favorite remodeling work ever to Kansas City home lovers like you!
