One of our favorite clients is back on our map this Summer. We’ve already done some incredible, award-winning projects for this family, and we’re thrilled to come back for another round. Beginning this week, we will be upgrading the facade of this stunning home with the help of our clients’ architect John Wind (who drew this other award-winning Scovell Wolfe project back in 2013).
The plans not only include new windows but turning the existing upstairs window locations, which currently sit very close to the roof, into dormers with window seating inside. The entire front entry gets reworked, as well as the addition of copper gutters, etc. There are many other odds and ends being tweaked, changed or upgraded, but I’ll spare you the details! You can see below what it looks like now and what the drawings propose it looks like soon!
In sum, the exterior of this home didn’t match the quality of the incredible interior spaces. But that’s about to change!
First, though, here’s a little trip down memory lane to see what all Scovell Wolfe has done to this Mission Hills home thus far. Let’s go bottom up, starting with the basement. Back in 2011 we transformed this family’s basement into an utterly unrecognizable new living space.
Our client got to take his love for trains up a notch when we moved his setup from an unfinished section of the basement into a fully designated train room!
Not too shabby, eh?
All that from a basement that at one time in the project looked like this:
Pretty incredible. Sometimes I walk into a project halfway and think, oh my gosh, how will this every turn out!! Things get way worse before they get better!
But the basement refinish wasn’t all. A few years prior we did a 180 of the clients’ kitchen.
And I absolutely love the adjoining breakfast room. Those tassels on the roman shades? I die. And that hutch? Gorgeous.
Just beyond the breakfast room doors, you walk out into this magnificent backyard.
The screened in porch wasn’t always there. It came as an addition we built at the same time as the kitchen. Pretty fantastic!
So needless to say, the amazing features of this house deserved an amazing front facade. And we’re excited to be giving it just that this summer. Stay tuned for pictures!
