Rhiannon Johnson
Designer
A Midwest native, Rhiannon settled in Lawrence after pursuing a masters degree from KU. She moved to Prairie Village in 2019 and decided to pursue her love for design, returning to school for her interior design degree. Married to Matt, mom to Merrick (and Scout, their Australian shepherd,) Rhiannon enjoys cooking and spending time with her family. She loves finding inspiration from visiting new places, from historical architecture of bustling cities to the serenity of nature found in national parks.
Describe your design aesthetic.
I would say it’s definitely nature inspired. I’m drawn to artisan, natural materials and typically opt for natural color palettes as well - a mix of neutrals and soft shades of blue and green. My natural lean is more classic and layered but I also enjoy the simplicity of Scandinavian design.
What is your favorite kind of space to design?
Definitely kitchens. There are so many opportunities to infuse both beauty and function. Plus, the space is naturally centered around creating memories whether that’s spending time with family or hosting friends and I love the feeling of warmth that brings.

What do you love about your work here at Scovell?
Ultimately, there’s a lot of joy and satisfaction that comes from solving client pain points on a personal level. It’s not as simple as a “one size fits all” solution. I also love the team collaboration - both on the design side and working with production. Of course seeing the transformation of each space is pretty fun too!
