Estimator

My passion for woodworking started back in 2014 when I took a stab at my first project: refinishing a solid oak dining set that was passed down to my wife and me. As I gained skills as a craftsman, I began taking on projects of my own for friends, family, and friends of friends. This sparked my interest in restoration and I started working for a company that specialized in restoring and manufacturing historic windows and doors for state capitals, court houses, museums, and universities. I found a lot of pride in bringing back to life these pieces of history that were originally destined for the trash. 

I continued my education at University of Central Missouri where I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Technology Management and pursued an opportunity as an Operations Manager for a wood shelf manufacturing company. There I gained experience in all of the planning, estimating and coordinating that goes into the production process.  

In my free time I like to shoot hoops with my buddies and spend time with my wife and two dogos. My wife and I enjoy taking the dogs for walks, and travel anytime we get a chance!

Describe your part in the design process.

As the estimator, it’s my job to put numbers to what the design the team has come up with. Between the scope of work, floorplan and many, many selections there are a lot of details to capture to set our production team up for success. At Scovell, I’m responsible for both the preliminary estimate and the final project total, procuring bids from all of our subcontractors along the way.

What is your favorite kind of project to work on?

I love bringing new life to materials and spaces that are no longer purposeful or attractive to a client. I find joy in breathing in new life to places rich with history.
